The shear bolt torque limiter (SB torque limiter) is a safety device used in power take-off (PTO) shaft systems to protect machinery from excessive torque and prevent damage. It’s designed to disconnect the driveline when a certain torque threshold is exceeded, usually caused by overload or a shock load.

This kind of torque limiter consists of two main components: a hub and a yoke. The hub  connects to the tractor’s PTO shaft. The yoke attaches to the implement’s input shaft. They are connected by a series of bolts that are designed to shear or break when torque threshold is exceeded.

The sheared bolts can be easily replaced, restoring the functionality of the torque limiter. And this replacement is very cheap, so the shear bolt torque limiter is a cost-effective and reliable safety mechanism commonly used in agricultural applications.
